At Metropolis, our philosophy regarding hair is, "It's your ego we're concerned about, not ours!" We want every cut to be what you demand in terms of function, accuracy, and excellence! Getting your hair cut shouldn't be an uncomfortable experience. Communication is the key to better understanding. We encourage you to bring pictures of your desired style if you already have one in mind. We understand that non-hairdressers may not be familiar (did I say,"Clueless") with technical cutting terms that hairdressers are familiar with. What mean's "Feathering" (an outdated word for layering, still widely used in Arkansas and surrounding areas) in the United States although, means a whole different technique in the UK. So, visuals are welcomed when you'e trying to describe the look you want. Do not be disappointed if one of our artists disagrees with you. Our staff is trained to listen, understand, and, most important, design a style that will suit your needs, facial structure, styling ability, and time frame. Our stylist may suggest a slight modification of your desired style to better fit your facial structure.

Remember that your time frame is so important for the replication of your style on a day-to-day basis. During your consultation, please explain how much time you have to invest in a style in the morning. For instance: If you have fine, thin, hair, and you have to be at work early in the morning, and in addition, you must usher others in the household, carpool kids to school (the screaming, lolli-gaggin' type), and worse yet, your workplace is on the other side of town, It doesn't sound like you have too much time to invest in a style that requires your whole morning. (Doesn't take a genius!) While our stylists may be able to create a look with thin, fine hair that looks as thick as the picture you've shown us, if you cannot replicate that style on a daily basis, we have failed you. Remember that the consultation process is the most important. If we feel for an instant that you and your Metropolis stylist are not communicating, we will not let the service begin until you are confident that your desired look can be achieved. Remember that it's not the amount of hair we cut off that matters, it's the amount of hair we leave on your head that makes you the hallmark of your talent, and ours!

Please remember that as artists, we all have different tastes, talents, and techniques. Certain effects can be achieved using different techniques and tools. If you want a Watercolor, do not ask an Oil Painter, ask a Watercolorist. If you want a certain look, allow our stylists to use the tools they're familiar with. Do not instruct, guide, or insist on techniques you would not use on yourself. While our artist's are open at all times for guidance and advanced education, they will not be as receptive to it once the process of creation and change has taken place. In addition, PLEASE purchase the items your Metropolis stylist recommends for your hair type. There are four categories you will need for your hair: a good cleanser, a conditioner, a styling aid, and a finishing spray or pomade. These items are just as important as a brush, comb, or blow dryer. Without these, you cannot duplicate the look your hairdresser has created. We even have "Nut's and Twigs" formulations for all you "Whiney" Granola types who insist that styling *#!@+! weighs down your hair! "Whaa Whaa! We're not here to push products on you that you don't need. Trust us, we're not car salesmen. Buying professional salon products should not feel like a multi-level marketing presentation (Y'know, rhymes with "SCAMWAY!). If you need something, our staff will suggest it. If you coincidentally have that exact same item at home and do not need it, then simply say, "I do not need that!" See It's real easy!

After your reassuring consultation, "sit back, relax, take whatever prescribed medications have been suggested by your medical professional, and let us get you there! Oy, life's too short to look like a mashuga vilda-hiyah! Remember, "if your Hair's not becoming to you, you should be coming to us!"
